Summary:

The Scale Operator is responsible for correctly and proficiently monitoring and recording scrap volumes entering and exiting the facility on the inbound and outbound scale. This position is customer-focused, fast-paced and requires general knowledge of scrap metal grades. The physical environment requires this position to be both indoors and outdoors.

Essential Job Functions:

Use computer systems (ERP) to complete daily tasks.
Material purchase entries.
Scaling trucks/customers in and out.
Verify accounts/prices.
Create documents for outbound shipments.
Coordinate w/ loaders regarding weights and loading specifications for outbound shipments.
Upload loading pictures and videos.
Email customers weights and load documentation.
Collect inspection ticket information and input data.
Communicate w/ buyers and accounting staff regarding deductions or radiation holds.
Production entries.
Clerical and administrative support including filing.
Communicate with employees in the yard using a 2-way radio, over incoming/outgoing material and customers.
Identify incoming and outgoing material – visual inspection.
Answer incoming calls and emails pertaining to daily business to the best of your ability.
Forward calls to management when necessary.
Count cash when necessary.
Back-up/fill-in for Cashier Windows of Metalico Buffalo locations (Skyway, Niagara, etc.)
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Strong attention to detail as well as an efficient, hardworking, and dependable attitude.
Customer service experience.
Computer aptitude (Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook).
Ability to work with little or no supervision, is flexible and a team player.
Detail Oriented.
Ability to multi-task.

Work Environment:

Work in an office environment.
Work at a desk/counter location for extended periods of time to perform normal daily tasks.
Work may take place in an industrial environment, with noise, dust and fumes.
Noise level in the work environment can be moderate at times, hearing protection is provided by the company at all times.

Work Hours:

Hours of Operation – Monday thru Friday 7:15AM – 4:30PM, Saturdays as scheduled.
Schedule is subject to change.
